TimeOut Tribe is a sports nutrition company founded in Ottawa in 2020. We started TimeOut because we saw that people needed help with recovery and hydration and that the sports nutrition industry was going in the direction of pre-workouts and caffeine at a time when people needed to relax and sleep better to recover instead. We recruited a PhD in Food Science with decades of experience to assist us with the conception of products that would need to work for first responders, pro athletes, and the military, and that could also be enjoyed by everyone looking to boost their fitness level. 

We started the development of our products with the conception of hydration powders. Our vision was to help people be healthier and better hydrated. This led us to create six (6) unique 2-in-1 powders made from natural, active ingredients, officially proven to work (with Health Canada licences). The Hydrate line of six products was our first offering, designed to help people stay hydrated and address issues such as difficulty sleeping and relaxing. It was in 2021 that we started our two-year-long focus groups on these initial products with members of the firefighters and paramedics in Montreal.

In 2022, the two co-founders added Dan Bérubé, the co-founder of XPN, the most popular brand of supplements in Quebec, to the team as a co-founder. TimeOut then joined forces with XPN to expand its products in the rest of Canada and the US while merging two philosophies: “Quality above all” and “Endurance, Recovery, Hydration." The TimeOut lineup of products was extended considerably as we adapted and tested many XPN products. Having Dan Bérubé join us also meant that the XPN factory, Supplements Controlab, would make us a one-stop-shop, vertically integrated with the manufacturing expertise, and able to supply all of Canada. All of our products are now made in the state-of-the-art GMP factory, Health Canada Site Licenced, Supplements Controlab. 

Later in 2022, TimeOut expanded its name to include “Tribe” to better reflect our mission of supporting first responders and MMA communities. We extended our product focus groups and started building our network. In 2023, TimeOut officially became a partner of Samurai MMA, one of the only three pro-MMA leagues featured on UFC Fight Pass. We have expanded our relationship with pro-MMA fighters and made some new ones in other communities. In 2024, we established sales teams in Quebec City, Montreal, and Ottawa, sometimes meeting them early in the morning on shift changes!
